Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe LINCOLNTON, N.C., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Two North Carolina men accused of stealing trail cameras were quickly identified and arrested when one of the cameras continued emailing photos to the owner. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said Billy Ray Green, Jr., 29, and Scottie Andrew Brooks, 33, allegedly stole the two cameras, which were both affixed to the same tree on owner Gary Howard's property in Lincolnton, in late December. Advertisement Investigators said Howard was alerted to the thefts Dec. 31 when one of the cameras continued to email him photos taken automatically during and after the theft, including photos of one suspect lounging by a Christmas tree. The sheriff's office posted some of the pictures on its Facebook page Wednesday and Green and Brooks were identified within hours, with more than 30 members of the public calling in tips. Green and Brooks brought the stolen cameras to the sheriff's office Wednesday night and they turned themselves in Thursday morning to face misdemeanor charges of larceny and possession of stolen goods.
