Son's mortgage-paying Christmas gift goes viral

The video went viral on Reddit and was viewed more than 240,000 times in a single day on YouTube.

NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A son's Christmas gift to his parents has gone viral after he recorded their reactions to finding out he paid off their mortgage.

The man, identified in a Reddit post by user Sharkbite0592 as Videoshop app creator Joseph Riquelme, posted a video on YouTube that shows his parents opening and reading the letter that tells them their mortgage has been paid off while he sits with them Christmas Day.

Riquelme's mother bursts into tears as she reads the letter and hands it off to his father, who then also wipes tears from his face.

The video, titled simply "Merry Christmas," was viewed more than 240,000 times in its first day on YouTube.
