Mock Lamborghini carved from mahogany

Yu Jietao said it cost about $16,000 for the materials he used to carve and assemble his mahogany roadster.

PUTIAN, China, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- A Chinese wood craftsman said a full-size mahogany car he modeled after a Lamborghini roadster can reach speeds of 18 mph using an electric engine.

Yu Jietao of Putian said it took him more than a year to carve and assemble the vehicle from materials he said cost more than $16,000.

Yu said he outfitted the mahogany frame with tires and an electric engine to allow it to drive at speeds of 18 mph.

The carver said his mock Lamborghini has been gaining a lot of attention from locals, with some collectors offering up to $35,000 for his creation.
