LONDON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A London man posted a video online showing how a "static electricity beam" made his hair stand on end outside Google's office in the city.

Simon Legrand, who posted the video to YouTube under the username galaxyexpress998, had a friend film him walking toward the building Friday evening and the video shows his hair stand on end as he explains they discovered a "static electricity beam" outside the Google office.

Legrand says in the video he can feel a buzzing on his forehead and the friend's phone starts crackling when he holds it up over his head.

"Initially it didn't hurts us, just surprised us. Then it seemed to intensify and my phone started crackling and the video cut. My friend got a strong electric shock from holding my phone up high," Legrand wrote in a post on Reddit.

The video was dismissed by some Reddit users as a fake, but at least two previous videos posted to YouTube show people standing near the Google building with their hair raised as if from static electricity.

U.K. Power Networks tweeted Monday a crew had visited the site and determined "the area is safe."

A second video posted by Legrand Tuesday shows workmen digging in the spot where he was standing in the first video.
