LONDON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A British man said he was walking with his girlfriend in a wooded area northeast of London when they discovered a huge marijuana farm just off the path.

Oscar Lerin, 35, said he and his girlfriend strayed off the path in the Epping Forest to seek out mushrooms, but they instead discovered about 70 marijuana plants that appear to have been professionally cultivated.

"The soil was different. We had a look and there was a sheet of plastic on the ground and the different soil was on top and the plants were in there," Lerin said.

He said the plants were discovered near a school.

The forest is managed by the City of London Corp. A representative declined to comment, saying the discovery is "a police matter."
