NEW YORK, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- The head of a black media company has launched a popular, hilarious hashtag to help reveal to clueless guys why catcalling is not cool. After a viral video revealed relentless catcalls while a woman walked through New York City, some men complained on social media that they didn't see what was so wrong with saying hi to a strange woman or telling her to smile.

"I'm so confused as to why dudes are complaining about not being able to say hi to women. Go say hi to other dudes if you need to so bad," tweeted Elon James White, CEO of This Week in Blackness. Thus was born #DudesGreetingDudes, showing men how offensive catcalls can be by switching up the genders.

"You see a dude in a nice suit, just roll up on him like "Damn. You wearing that suit. Hmm Hmm!" White offers in one example. Or: "Listen, my boys and I watched you when you came out of the train. Your kicks is bangin', son. Can i give you my number?"

Other contributors joined in the spirit with: "Whatcha reading bro? You like books? I love smart dudes. Get that brain on, bud. Aw yeah," and: Damn dude, your guns are on point. Why wear that shirt if you didn't want the attention?"

"The right to approach women at any point in time no matter where they are is seen as a right by some men," White noted. "Walking to the grocery store or to go pick up your kid shouldn't be a gauntlet that you have to gear up for."
