STONEHAM, Mass., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts store owner was seen on CCTV throwing chili powder in the faces of armed robbers who demanded he hand over cash.

The security camera footage from C-Store in Stoneham shows Brett Osgood, 25, coming into the store late Saturday to purchase a $2 lottery scratch ticket from store owner Saadat Khan.

Osgood left and came back a short time later with a man in his 40s, who attempted to cash in a winning scratch ticket, police said.

Khan opened the cash register and one of the men drew a gun and demanded cash, police said. However, Khan refused to give the men any money.

"I closed the register. I said, 'This is your $2. You want it, come behind the counter.' I threw it on the floor," Khan told MyFoxBoston.com.

The security camera footage shows the men strike Khan and unsuccessfully attempt to open the cash register. The footage shows the men flee the store after Khan throws chili powder in their faces.

Khan took down the license plate number of the vehicle the men were using and that led police to Osgood, who was arrested on charges of armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation.
