FELLSMERE, Fla., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Authorities say a man was arrested after he stabbed his nephew in a fight over pork chops.

When police arrived at a home in Fellsmere, Fla., Wednesday, they discovered Charles Williams bleeding profusely from abdominal wounds. Billy Wall, 61, told officers that he was forced to stab Williams, his nephew, after the two began arguing over the number of pork chops each was allowed to eat for dinner.

According to police, Wall claimed to only get one chop while Williams ate three, leaving none for Wall's girlfriend. The argument turned physical and Williams left the room, allegedly returning with a machete, Wall said.

In the ensuing struggle for the weapon, Wall stabbed Williams in the stomach with a butcher knife.

Neighbors said Williams was "harmless" and described him as mentally challenged.

"I'm willing to bet you he didn't have no machete," one woman told WPBF. "When somebody is stabbing somebody over food -- oh my God, I'll tell you, I don't even know what's going on."

Williams underwent emergency surgery after the blade missed an artery but damaged his liver.

Police found Wall at a neighbor's house, where he had gone to request a change out of his blood-soaked clothes. He was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery.
