SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A giant gold nugget with a minimum price tag of $350,000 will go on sale Thursday at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show.

The gold chunk is 6.07 pounds and called the "Butte Nugget" as it was found in the mountainous Butte County.

The nugget was found in July and is being sold by Don Kagin on behalf of an anonymous land owner. Kagin said he sent David McCarthy to verify the piece and was blindfolded and taken to the spot and told not divulge any details of the location. The location is kept secret because it has the potential to attract gold searchers and thugs.

"I'm convinced this man found what he said he found," said McCarthy.

Kagin has said he has been tricked before with fake gold nuggets.

"This one's for real," said Kagin. "Obviously we don't want to get hoodwinked again, so we have checked pretty thoroughly into it."
