LIVERPOOL, England, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Paranormal investigators said they have captured footage of what they believe to be a ghost at a British medical center famous for specter sightings.

The Sefton Paranormal Investigators said they carried out an investigation at the Liverpool Medical Institute in England and they were able to make contact with the spirit of Richard Caton, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, who died in 1926.

"As a rule of thumb, we always begin by simply asking if there are any spirits that wish to communicate with us," investigator Pamela Robinette told the Daily Mail. "When we reached the medical library we set up electro-magnetic field sensors, known as rempods, on the outer side of the room."

"If we did make contact, then the sensor should detect the electro-magnetic field that all spirits possess and set off an audible alarm with flashing lights -- but it is very rare for this device to react," she said.

However, Robinette said the alarm went off when the investigators asked to communicate with Caton, whose portrait is one of many on the walls of the library.

Robinette said the spirit set off the alarm 17 times during a two-hour investigation and each time there was a temperature drop of about five degrees.

The team also captured footage of an orb floating at the foot of the main staircase, where ghost sightings have previously been reported. Robinette said the orb was too bright to be dust and did not have the right shape or flight path to be an insect.
