ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The author of a book titled Creative Screwing alleges in a Michigan lawsuit she was not-so-creatively screwed out of royalties by her publisher.

Nannette Laree Hernandez, author of Creative Screwing: A Woman's Guide to Becoming an Erotic Enchantress of Superlustful Sex, filed a lawsuit in Berrien County Court alleging Alan Leddon dba Spero Publishing penned a contract to pay her 20 percent royalties on print and 50 percent royalties on electronic copies of a 2011 revised edition of her 1993 tome.

Leddon "has not paid anything remotely close to the amounts owed under the contract," the suit alleges.

Hernandez alleges she received a single payment of $20.85 in November 2012, and the publisher then "refus(ed) to send any more royalties, and stated he would retain all royalties in a separate interest-bearing savings account until plaintiff was off parole."

The lawsuit, which does not state why the author was on parole, said the refusal to pay kept Hernandez from being able to end her parole.

"As a result of defendant's refusal to pay royalties or provide quarterly reports to plaintiff, her parole was extended for a year, as there was not proof of royalties or reports from defendant to show what plaintiff was entitled [to] in royalties to pay her restitution," the suit states.

The suit alleges Leddon "admitted to plaintiff in writing and to law enforcement of converting plaintiff's royalties for his own personal use and that he no longer had the money to pay plaintiff what she was owed."

The lawsuit is seeking an accounting of the funds Hernandez is owed as well as damages for breach of contract, misrepresentation, fraud and conversion.
