DES MOINES, Iowa, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Iowa couple Makenzie and Steven Schultz "paid it forward" with a $100 tip to an overwhelmed waiter during their anniversary dinner.

The couple had to wait for their meal for over an hour but realized it was because their waiter had to wait 12 tables and the bar. They recognized he was short staffed and instead of punishing their poor service with a bad tip, they gave her a $100 tip.

Both of them were servers at one point and wanted to let the waitrer know they sympathized with him. Makenzie said she posted the image of the receipt to her Facebook to encourage others to be more mindful before they judge.
