COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- An Ohio man whose joking $10 request for potato salad funds resulted in more than $55,000 in donations threw a party with live music and a lot of potato salad.

Zack Brown, who posted to website Kickstarter earlier this year with a tongue-in-cheek request for $10 so he could make potato salad, said he was inspired by the $55,492 he received in donations to throw "PotatoStock 2014," a celebration of "peace, love and potato salad" Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

The event at the Columbus Commons featured live music, potato sack races, parachute games and -- of course -- mass quantities of potato salad.

"Potato Stock 2014 is in the books! Thank you to all of our sponsors, backers, and everyone who was part of this crazy ride!" Brown posted on the event's official Twitter page.

Brown said most of the money he raised from the Kickstarter campaign is going to various hunger-related charitable causes. Saturday's event raised $18,000 for the Columbus Foundation, a local charity.
