ENFIELD, Conn., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Connecticut said they are seeking charges against a high school girl who handed out pot-laced lollipops to classmates, leading one to be hospitalized.

Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said the Enfield High student told police she had obtained the lollipops laced with THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana, from California and she admitted to distributing them at school.

Sferrazza said a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized overnight after eating one of the pot pops at school.

It was unclear whether the students who received the candy knew it was laced with marijuana.
