Portland police deliver pizza after delivery man is injured in car crash

Steve Huckins said he just began laughing when the two officers showed up at his door with the pizza.

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Portland police proved they are dedicated to community service Sept. 1 when they delivered a pizza after the Pizza Hut delivery man was injured in a car accident.

Steve Huckins was comically surprised when he opened the door to Officers Filbert and Curtiss holding a Hawaiian pizza. He said after asking how he was was, he asked the officers for a photograph to prove his story. The Portland Police Department posted the photo to its Twitter account and it has since gone viral, reports KPTV.

"They turn around to leave and I said, 'Hang on, I've got to a get a picture of this. Nobody will believe Portland police delivering a pizza. Nobody,'" said Huckins.

The restaurant had delivered another pizza at half-price before the officers arrived, so Huckins ended up with two pizzas.

Huckins said he wanted the officers to be recognized for going "above and beyond."
