WUHAN, China, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- A Chinese toddler is recovering from surgery to remove a chop stick that went up his nose and penetrated nearly 3 inches into his brain.

Doctors said Huang Zicheng, 2, of Wuhan, China, somehow ended up with the chopstick in his nose while playing at his home Sept. 8 and his father, who was doing chores at the time, was alerted to the situation when he heard the toddler scream.

Surgeons said CAT scans found the chopstick had penetrated 2.7 inches into the boy's brain, but it avoided hitting any major nerves or arteries. It was removed in a 4-hour operation and doctors said the boy is now expected to make a full recovery.
