HAMMONDS PLAINS, Nova Scotia, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A Nova Scotia girl who has been ice skating for four years said she will attempt the world record for fastest spins to raise money for charity.

Olivia Oliver, 11, of Hammonds Plains, said she surpassed 300 rotations per minute during a recent practice and she will attempt to break the record of 308 rotations per minute, set by Natalia Kanounnikova, during a November visit to Poland.

Oliver, who has been ice skating for four years, said the attempt will raise money for charities including Leave Out Violence and Fundacja Dziecieca Fantazja, a charity her Polish-born parents founded in Poland in 2004 to grant wishes for terminally ill children.

Garry Oliver, the girl's father, said he is in awe of his daughter's talent.

"I cannot comprehend it," he told the Global News. "I can go around once and I fall over. I feel nauseated. I have no comprehension how she does it actually," he said.
