Orem police said Christina Schlegel, 25, allegedly swallowed the double-band wedding ring while fleeing police with Bryan Ford, 30, who allegedly stole the ring from a Zales store in Orem. Craig Martinez of the Orem Police told the New York Daily News Tuesday. Martinez said Schlegel's cell is outfitted with a "dry toilet" that does not flush and she has been ordered to search through her waste for the ring. "We don't get paid enough to dig through people's bowel movements," Martinez said. Schlegel and Ford are facing felony theft charges. Police said the ring is worth "several thousand dollars."
