SJORDAL, Norway, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- A Norwegian man accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and upped the ante by dumping over 1,800 gallons of ice water over his head.

Lars Christian Rødal, 29, of Stjørdal, said a friend from Scotland challenged him to take the Ice Bucket Challenge -- to raise money and awareness for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS -- and he decided to incorporate the cement truck he drives into the challenge.

"I thought a bucket was too wimpy. I wanted something a little more extreme," Rodal told TV2.

Rødal filled the truck with more than 1,800 gallons of ice water and had it dumped over his head for about 30 seconds.

"It hurt! I lost feeling all over my body," he said.

Rødal said he also donated $100 to the American ALS association.

"I don't have a close relationship to the disease, but I think it is great that ALS gets attention," he said.
