LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A promotional flier advertising an evening of violent crime in Kentucky is being taken seriously by law enforcement officials.

Based on The Purge films, the proposed hours of consequence-free crime are possibly set to take place from 8 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Saturday in Louisville.

Other possible locations include the Kentucky State Fair, an upcoming Katy Perry concert and local high school football games.

"Anytime that there is a threat that affects our community we are going to investigate that," Louisville Metro Police Sgt. Phil Russell told WLKY. "If someone is threatening to harm members of our community, then we're going to investigate them and pursue that as best we can."

Law enforcement officials aren't the only ones who are preparing for the worst.

The Jeffersonville Police and the FBI have also indicated that they are ready to respond if need be.

"In law enforcement, we have to take all threats serious," Jeffersonville Police Maj. Josh Lynch told the Courier-Journal.
