GREEN LAKE, Wash., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A Washington man who was attempting to capture video of lightning in the middle of a field in Green Lake ended up getting hit.

Robb Montejano wanted to get the lightning on video so his kids could see it, so he pulled out his cell phone and started shooting.

Moments later, there was a loud crash and Montejano felt electricity surging through his body. "It's like every muscle in your body, it seems like they all go off at once," he told KIRO Radio.

Luckily Montejano survived the lightning strike and didn't suffer any major injuries.

"I made possibly the world's worst decision," Montejano said. "I'm standing there in the middle of an open field, the highest point in a lightning storm, and I'm trying to video it."

Montejano sounds as if he has learned his lesson. "I'm like there's no way on God's green earth I'm going back across the field," he said.
