LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Customers at a California-based restaurant chain won't have to ask "Where's the beef?" if they order the eatery's newest offering.

Fatburger's new "Protein Burger" has buns made out of two meat patties with the option for other items like bacon, eggs, guacamole and chili to be crammed inside.

The standard version of the sandwich costs $4.50 and comes with lettuce, cheese, onions, pickles and tomatoes. A larger version is available for $7.50.

"The protein-style burger is perfect for those looking to minimize carbohydrate intake, while increasing protein to sustain energy throughout the day," a Fatburger representitive told Entrepreneur.

For diners who want to "beef up" their sandwich, extra patties/buns can be added for an additional charge.

It might not be any more or less healthy, but Philadelphia's PYT has introduced a Donut Cheesesteak Burger. The sandwich consists of a grilled glazed donut split in half and topped with Philly cheesesteak, cheese whiz and fried onions.
