BEIJING, July 29 (UPI) -- A restaurant in Beijing has hired teenage girls to walk crabs down the street as part of a promotional stunt to draw attention to its seafood menu.

The stunt was orchestrated by the same artist who came up with a project earlier this year that involved apparent cabbage-walking.

Crab activists have said that the Pirate King's advertising effort it cruel, but the restaurant is happy for all the attention the promotion has been drawing.

"It was a lot of fun, and now everybody knows our name, and I don't care about the few people that complained that the crabs were suffering," restaurant manager Peng Mai told Orange.

"What I can say is they didn't suffer long, because after they were brought back to the restaurant they had a quick wash, and then went straight in the cooking pot."
