MOUNT VERNON, Wash., July 8 (UPI) -- A cow that got loose is dead after starting beef with Washington police.

An aggressive Angus cow that got agitated and assaulted a police officer after escaping in Mount Vernon was killed.

The cow left a farm outside of the city and ran through the streets, almost interrupting a wedding that was taking place. An officer who tried to corral the charging cow was tossed in the air, although he escaped without being seriously injured.

After the cow continued to be aggressive and damaged the hood of a patrol car, police and the cow's owner agreed that the animal needed to be put down.

The cow's rampage finally ended when an officer was able to fatally shoot it, the Skagit Valley Herald reported.
