NEW YORK, July 2 (UPI) -- As if New Yorkers needed another reason to dislike NYU students...

The drunken young man who has been seen claiming that his father "owns half of [expletive] Manhattan" in a viral video that has been sweeping across the Internet has been identified.

His name is Gerry Shalam and he's a 20-year-old New York University student from New Jersey, according to the Smoking Gun.

Shalam's father Lou does not own half of Manhattan; he's a garment industry executive who is probably not too pleased with his son's boasts.

In the video, Shalam and some of friends are taped after probably ingesting a mostly-liquid brunch at a Manhattan restaurant. The seemingly-intoxicated young man boasts that he owns the NYPD and that he can call Mayor Bill de Blasio "even though he's a liberal."

Most of Shalam's social media accounts have been deleted, but it is being reported that he had a starring role in the "Hip Hop Wiz," a reworking of The Wizard of Oz, before blowing up as the lead in "Belligerent Guy On The Street."
