BUCHAREST, Romania, June 18 (UPI) -- Patriarch Daniel, the head of the Romanian Orthodox Church, debuted an unconventional blessing strategy Monday when he blessed a church-operated television station with a paint roller dipped in holy water.

He uses a "sanctification rod" to bless hard to reach places, a spokesman told Romanian news outlet Adevarul.

The patriarch, who was elected in 2007, is known for establishing Trinitas Radio and Trinitas Television, which now reaches most of the Romanian territory.
