Drunken man arrested for impersonating an officer at Maryland Taco Bell drive-thru

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY , Md., June 17 (UPI) -- An allegedly intoxicated Maryland man was arrested and charged after he acted belligerently while going through a Taco Bell drive-thru early on Sunday morning.

According to Anne Arundel County police, Robert Knickerbocker was going through the restaurant's drive-thru in his Mercedes 300D when he began blowing the horn and cursing at Taco Bell employees.

The 47-year-old also ordered food and then refused to pull up to the window, so workers opted to call police.

"He was also on his phone there for a while in the drive-thru again, using expletives and not following directions of the employees in terms of pulling up," Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy told WBAL. "Employees called the Police Department just feeling like police needed to respond to deal with this person. It's actually what started the investigation."

Knickerbocker, who smelled strongly of alcohol and had glassy eyes, told police that he was a police officer for the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

That claim proved to be false, although Knickerbocker is a volunteer reserve officer for the MNRP; or at least he was.

After Knickerbocker failed a field sobriety test, he was issued five traffic citations and charged with DWI and impersonating a police officer.
