NEW ORLEANS, June 13 (UPI) -- A New Orleans woman who died on June 1 at the age of 53 was memorialized with a "last party" featuring a case of Busch beer, menthol cigarettes, liquor, music and a disco ball.
Continuing the recent trend of the deceased attending their own funerals, Miriam Marie "Mae-Mae" Burbank attended the event wearing dark glasses, and had all of her favorite things right at her fingertips.
Speaking of Burbank's fingers, they were painted black and gold in honor of the New Orleans Saints.
A crossword puzzle and Saints helmets were also on display during the service at the Charbonnet Funeral Home.
Burbank's two daughters said their mother was "full of life" and they wanted her final send-off to reflect the way that she lived.
The daughters told WGNO that "other family members seemed to enjoy this fitting goodbye."
