Mayall died on Monday at age 56. The cause of death is still unknown at this time.
The blue plaque in Hammersmith Broadway reads that Mayall "punched his friend in the balls on a bench near this spot."

Blue plaques are administered by English Heritage and are meant to carry "an aura of seriousness and significance," according to the Guardian.
A QR code on the plaque links to the opening credits of Bottom, a sitcom starring Mayall which ran for three series between 1991 and 1995. Mayall does actually punch his friend in the balls in the credits of the show. (He gets a whack in the head with a newspaper in return.)
