OKLAHOMA CITY, June 5 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma dad was apparently not too happy to hear about his daughter's engagement.

James Littrell has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly running over his daughter's fiancé with his pickup truck at a gas station in Oklahoma City.

The fiancé, Christian Leatherwood, was at a gas station with a friend on Monday when Littrell spotted him. The 48-year-old has just found out about the engagement and he didn't exactly want to discuss it.

"He started yelling at us in the parking lot and stuff," Leatherwood told KOCO. "[He] ran into his truck, put the keys in, threw it in reverse and hit me. I ended up on top of the tailgate because I didn't want my legs broken."

Leatherwood's friend, Victory Nelson, ended up on the truck as well, but he jumped off.

"[He] told us to stay the hell away from his daughter and he was going to do what he wanted," Nelson said. "It was very scary, I didn't know what to think."

When Littrell stopped the truck at a red light, Leatherwood was tossed off of it.

"The only thing I was worried about was getting the hell out of that truck," Leatherwood said.
