NEW YORK, May 22 (UPI) -- A New York man is accused of hijacking a bakery truck and then making random deliveries around the city while only wearing his underwear.

David Bastar allegedly stole a Grimaldi's Home of Bread truck while its assigned driver was making a delivery at a pizzeria and then proceeded to drop off rolls, baguettes and bread at random locations throughout NYC.

"He was delivering bread at random places," bakery owner Joe Grimaldi told the Journal. "It was very bizarre...They were finding bread in front of their doors."

The thief also followed written instructions that had been left in the truck and dropped off baked goods to at least three places that were on the Grimaldi list.

"When I heard he actually made a few deliveries, I laughed out loud . . . I guess he really wants to be a truck driver!" a Grimaldi's deliveryman told the New York Post.

Bastar was pulled over and near La Guardia's Central Terminal and taken to Elmhurst Hospital's psychiatric ward because he seemed mentally unstable. He was later charged with criminal possession of stolen goods and released into the care of his parents.
