DUNEDIN, New Zealand, May 22 (UPI) -- A New Zealand cat shocked its owner when it dropped a bag of marijuana on its doorstep.

Dog may be man's best friend, but this kitty delivered 5 grams of marijuana, valued at about $130, to a woman who was not pleased with her pet's gift. She called police at 6 p.m. on Sunday, asking them to remove the drugs.

"You hear of cats bringing dead birds and rats home but certainly in my career I've never seen anything like this before," said Sergeant Reece Munro, who declined to identify the feline or its owner.

Munro said they will examine the bag for fingerprints to see if they can identify the owner.

The cat has not been charged.
