Driver arrested for blowing stop sign and then blowing pot smoke in officer's face

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 21 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts man was arrested and is expected to be arraigned on a number of charges after he allegedly blazed through a stop sign and then smoked marijuana in his car while he was being questioned by a police officer.

Springfield police Officer J.B. Stern stopped Ricky Allende after he saw him drive through a stop sign on Tuesday.

According to police spokesman Sgt. John Delaney, Stern was "covered in a plume of smoke," after the 30-year-old suspect rolled down his window, the Republican reported.

The following exchange then occurred:

Stern: "Are you smoking marijuana while operating this motor vehicle"? Allende: "Why, yes I am, officer."

Allende will likely be arraigned on charges including OUI-drugs and failure to obey a stop sign. Stern also gave him a ticket for possession of an ounce or less of marijuana.
