BUFFALO, N.Y., May 21 (UPI) -- A group of Buffalo Bills fans are looking to ban the music of Jon Bon Jovi in upstate New York – and it's not because he's buddies with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

Bon Jovi has been linked to a Toronto-based firm that is reportedly interested in purchasing the historic NFL franchise and moving it up to Canada.

In response, the founders of the 12th Man Thunder fan club have started asking Buffalo-area bars to become "Bon Jovi Free Zones" and boycott the Jersey rocker's music.

"In an effort to support our Buffalo Bills remaining in Buffalo as OUR team, 12th Man Thunder has launched a community organizing campaign," according to the 12th Man website. "The fans are fired up and standing behind any ownership team dedicated to keeping the Bills in WNY while Mr. Jon Bon Jovi has made it clear that he would like to purchase the team, and move it to Toronto."

Transit Bar and Restaurant was the first bar to officially ban Bon Jovi's music, according to WGRZ. "It just seemed like the right thing to do," Ryan Jagiello of Transit Bar told the station.

"I wasn't a Bon Jovi fan anyways to begin with, so it's really no big deal for me not to play his music in here. I've told these bands, no, don't even think about playing it. Just take it right off your set list. He can live on a prayer somewhere else."

The group has also begun an online petition in an effort to keep the Bills in New York. The petition is growing in popularity and already has more than 4,500 signatures.
