Police smelled marijuana and asked the car's owner, Kenneth Sowards, if they could search the vehicle. The 18-year-old allegedly gave his consent and police discovered 44 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and a pill crusher in the back of the car.
They also found a fountain drink containing two plastic baggies holding a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
According to their arrest warrants, the pair's phones both had messages on them mentioning narcotics sales and cocaine usage, WKRN reported.
A church was within 1,000 feet of where Manning and Sowards were stopped, so they were both charged with felony possession of drugs in a drug-free zone in addition to other related charges.
