SAN FRANCISCO, May 16 (UPI) -- A San Francisco prankster decided to warn city residents (and possibly issue a spoiler) by hacking into a traffic sign and making it read "Godzilla Attack" and "Turn Back."

Some believed that the sign was simply a public relations stunt for the new film, but it ended up just being a joke.

The digital sign, which was supposed to provide information about the Bay to Breakers race on Sunday, was later changed to read "It's Too Damn Hot" and "City Closed."

Paul Indelicato of Pacific Highway Rentals told SFGate that he sent someone to fix the sign and change the lock.

"We're guessing it's someone who knew the combination and put the message up there," Indelicato said. "It only takes a minute to change the message. Someone was having fun."
