Another teenager, 19-year-old Monte Johnson, allegedly assisted Blue with going through Porter's pockets and robbing him of the $5 that he had on him. Porter has only been charged with robbery.
According to police, Blue was waiting for Porter outside the store after his refusal to buy him alcohol. When Blue confronted him, Porter refused to hand over his wallet and was shot.
The bullet hit near Porter's spinal cord and he was seriously injured.
"He did not move his legs or his feet the entire time I was there," his stepdaughter, Shawanda Henry, told KPLR. "And I don't know how this is going to affect him, because if you can't walk, you know, this man gets around, he's always been a worker."
Blue is being held on $100,000 bail.
"Unnecessary violence, that's just all this is," Henry said. "And I feel sorry, because they're fixing to go to jail, and they're going to lose their lives, the opportunities that are out here for them. They're going to miss family time, and all that's important."
