Cat saves boy from dog attack in California

The attack happened at a home in Bakersfield.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., May 14 (UPI) -- Man may have a new best friend...

A California cat was able scare off a dog that was attacking a 4-year-old boy in Bakersfield while he was riding a small bike in his driveway.

The video, which was posted on KernGoldenEmpire.com, shows the boy riding his bike when the neighbor's dog comes up and bites at his leg.

As the dog appears to pull on the boy, his cat comes charging out of nowhere and scares the canine off.

According to the boy's mother, Erica Triantafilo, he is recovering at home after being taken to the hospital and receiving 10 stitches.

Triantafilo said the neighbors voluntarily had their dog quarantined.
