CHARLEROI , Pa., May 13 (UPI) -- Pennsylvania police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who is accused of stealing a giant rooster statue from outside of a business in Charleroi and then leading police on a car chase.

The 12-foot tall rooster statue was outside Tim's Secret Treasures and it was worth $2,000.

Co-owner Rhonda Jaquay was alerted about what was happening after her neighbors allegedly saw Brody Nichols loading the statue into his truck and contacted her son.

"He said, 'Mom, you need to get up,'" Jaquay told CBS Pittsburgh. "At first I thought he was joking. Then, when I realized he was really serious, I guess the funniness turned to a lot of anger, because I thought to myself, 'You've got to be kidding me!' We've owned that place for seven years, and nobody ever went in that yard."

Police spotted the statue in Nichols' truck and tried to pull him over. During the ensuing high-speed chase, the statue fell out of the bed of the truck and both of its legs broke off.

The 30-year-old suspect was not apprehended so police will alert him of his charges via postal summons. Nichols is charged with theft by unlawful taking/moveable property, receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, and criminal mischief/tampering with property.

"I don't think that rooster in a million years was worth all the trouble that it will cause in his life, here and in the future," Jaquay said.
