MIDDLETOWN, Conn., May 9 (UPI) --A "grossly intoxicated" Wesleyan student is probably feeling a little out of sync after allegedly saying that he was Justin Timberlake during a confrontation with Middletown police.

According to the Middletown Police Department, Jesse Tarnas told Wesleyan officers that his name was "J.T. Golden" while he intoxicated at a campus party. The officers didn't believe that he was a student and asked him to leave. When Tarnas refused, he was handcuffed.

The 19-year-old put up a fight, so Middletown police were called in. Tarnas then allegedly told Middletown officers that he was Justin Timberlake.

"I asked Tarnas again for his real name, as Justin Timberlake is a well known celebrity whom I have seen on television, and I recognized that it was definitely not him," Middletown officer Stephen Froberg wrote in an incident report.

While he was being processed,, police found Tarnas' Wesleyan student identification card in his wallet. He was charged with interfering with an officer and released.
