Spanish clothing store criticized for creepy Mother's Day ad

After releasing the ad, the negative comments the store received indicated that poking holes in a man's condom is not a good way to celebrate Mother's Day.

BARCELONA, Spain, May 7 (UPI) -- Spanish clothing store Desigual apologized after Mother's Day ad featuring woman poking holes in condoms receives criticism.

The commercial shows a young woman dancing in a store and looking at her figure while pretending to have a pregnant belly. She then takes out a packet of condoms (presumably meant for her partner) and pokes holes in the packet with a pin. The commercial closes with, "Feliz dia de la madre" or "Happy Mother's Day."

People were upset after seeing the ad saying no one would be happy to become a mother because someone poked holes in their condom.

Desigual claims that it was intended as a joke against Spain's restrictive abortion laws but apologized and edited the condom-poking out of the ad. The regional government is considering banning the ad and it wouldn't really matter because now the commercial really does not make sense.
