DEKALB, Ga., May 2 (UPI) -- After a family member found the dead bodies of a Georgia couple at their DeKalb County home, the victims' son has been arrested for killing them.

Calvin Ray, Jr., allegedly killed his parents, a 75-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman, with a samurai sword. Police arrested him at Chapel Hill Park on Thursday.

The home was “a pretty horrific scene inside,” DeKalb police Chief Cedric Alexander told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “One of the family members came home, and when she came inside the house, she saw the two victims lying in the bedroom.”

Police had been at the house before during a 2007 incident where the 39-year-old was holed up following an aggravated assault incident. "I thought this person was locked up in jail," neighbor Dorothy Watkins told WSB-TV. "I thought he was going to be incarcerated for a while."

Ray did serve 20 months on aggravated assault and weapon charges, but was released in December 2011.

"This is very early in the investigation," Alexander said. "It's a very, very sad scene inside but fortunately we were able to apprehend this suspect before he got too far into the community."
