NEW YORK, April 28 (UPI) -- A French tourist gave a homeless man in New York City her leftover pizza after she saw him going through the trash near Grand Central Terminal.

It turns out it was Richard Gere.

Karine Gombeau didn’t realize that Gere was on the set of "Time Out of Mind" when she gave him leftovers from an “enormous” pizza she had just gotten in Little Italy.

“I said, ‘Je suis désolée [I am sorry], but the pizza is cold,’” the 42-year-old told the New York Post. “He said, ‘Thank you so much. God bless you.’”

Gombeau only found out what happened after a hotel employee showed her a photo of herself with the 64-year-old actor in the newspaper.

“It was magical . . . It’s crazy, this story. It’s unimaginable that something like this could happen,” she Gombeau. “I think he’s very handsome, even at his age.”
