British politician Ed Balls retweets his name on third annual Ed Balls Day

The Labor Shadow Chancellor became an Internet celebrity when he mistakenly re-tweeted his name three years ago.

CASTLEFORD, England, April 28 (UPI) -- Three years ago on April 28, British Labor Shadow Chancellor Edward Michael “Ed” Balls was shopping for ingredients to make pulled pork when one of his aides told him to search Twitter for an article.

Balls typed his name into the wrong field on his Blackberry and accidentally tweeted the phrase: “Ed Balls.”

The tweet became a viral hit and received over 25,000 retweets and more than 10,000 likes.

Balls’s tweet been living in infamy ever since and Twitter celebrates the anniversary every year.

This year has been no different.






To commemorate the occasion, Balls opted to give the people what they want.
