White supremacists in Virginia hide Easter eggs filled with racist messages

“Diversity = white genocide,” read the message inside one of the eggs.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va., April 21 (UPI) -- Virginia parents in Henrico County were disturbed after finding Easter eggs filled with racist notes dispersed throughout their community during their annual hunt on Sunday afternoon.

West End parents Brandon and Jackie Smith told WRIC they found the offensive messages during an Easter egg hunt with their 3-year-old son.

“Diversity = white genocide,” read the message inside the egg. “Mass immigration and forced assimilation of non-whites into our lands is genocide."

After finding the egg, Brandon alerted other neighborhood parents about its presence.

"My husband noticed the last Easter egg and I knew it wasn't one that put out. we opened it and it's got the white supremacist stuff in it,” Jackie said. “We don't want other kids around here who can read being like, 'Hey mommy what's the million man white march or what's the genocide project?' Most of us don't want to explain genocide to our 6-year-olds.”

Several other racially-spiked eggs were discovered in other yards in the neighborhood.

"It's disturbing knowing my son is walking around the yard a lot and finding that. It’s something he may find and have questions about that not necessarily at his age -- I want to explain to him. That there are people in this world who don't think everyone is equal,” Brandon said.

The eggs may have originated from someone with ties to the “White Man’s March.” According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, march-founder Kyle Hunt mentioned using Easter eggs in a blog post.

“You could buy some of those really cheap plastic Easter eggs, maybe put in something for a little bit of weight, and include a small strip of paper in there with some of our material printed on one side, with your favorite websites printed on the back,” Hunt wrote.
