SAN FRANCISCO, April 8 (UPI) -- Vandals in San Francisco apparently have a problem with Smart Cars -- so they’re flipping them over.

At least four Smart Cars were found turned upside-down after a vandalism spree that took place early on Monday morning.

Andrew Smith was warned by a neighbor that his wife's 1,808-pound Smart Car was now parked with its roof touching the pavement. "It was pretty hard to believe," Smith told the San Jose Mercury News. “It is just an object. I have lived in San Francisco for 20 years and I am not immune to the insanity that takes place in this city."

Although the #smartcartipping hashtag drew some laughs on social media, Smart Car owners in the area don’t find it funny.

"I am a retired licensed, clinical social worker," said Kathy May. "But if you turn over my sweet, little car, we will not be talking out your problems. I will go directly for vengeance."

According to San Francisco Police Officer Gordon Shyy, the suspects will face felony vandalism charges if they are caught.

Eyewitness reported seeing six to eight people flipping over one of the cars.
