March 21 (UPI) -- The mayor of Los Angeles is feeling very glad that a spoof video of Pharrell Williams’ popular song “Happy” was created about the sidewalks of L.A.

Why is Mayor Eric Garcetti so happy about the spoof?

The video, which features people tripping and stumbling while walking alongside city streets, raises awareness about the poor condition of sidewalks in Los Angeles. Garcetti was so pleased with the clip, that he tweeted it to his 36.4K followers.

The video was released on Tuesday by Honora Talbott, the same day that Los Angeles officials proposed a plan to implement a half-cent sales tax increase to fix roads and damaged sidewalks.

L.A. City Council members Joe Buscaino and Mitch Englander will hold a hearing on April 2 about the sales tax increase. “Our streets form the backbone of our local transportation system,” Buscaino and Englander said in a joint statement. “Every visitor, every resident, and every business owner uses our streets and our local economy is dependent upon the ability to move people and goods throughout the city.”

Garcetti has not decided whether to back putting the proposal on the ballot. “I’m not going to put it on the ballot if I don’t think it can pass," he told KPCC. "That’s a waste of my time.”
