LIVERPOOL, England, March 13 (UPI) -- A video depicting a British cyclist confronting a motorist who drove too close to him went viral when the driver revealed he was trying to save his parrot.

The cyclist's helmet cam video, shot on the streets of Liverpool, England, shows the cyclist chasing after a black Ford he considered to have driven too close and confronting the driver when the vehicle stopped at an intersection, the Mirror reported Thursday.

"Give us a bit more room next time," the cyclist says in the video.

The motorist, who appears shaken, apologizes and explains his situation.

"Sorry I've got a parrot dying on me here," the man says, before opening his jacket and revealing his ailing bird.

The motorist gives a thumbs-up by way of apology and the cyclist replies, "It's OK," before the man drove off.

The parrot in the video appears to be a red-crowned Amazon.
