Target apologizes for shameless photoshop fail

The retailer completely mangled an online photo of a junior's bikini set.

March 11 (UPI) -- Target is currently leading the pack of recent photoshop fails, after The Ethical Adman and other bloggers noticed that the retailer had managed to crop the crotch out of a model's bikini photo.

"If it weren't part of an ongoing attempt to mould unrealistic bodies in fashion marketing, it would almost be funny," Ethical Adman wrote.



The ad was for a Xhilaration Junior’s Midkini 2-piece Swimsuit in Leopard Print. Not only had the photo editor cropped out a significant portion of the model's thighs, he or she had also taken off a chunk of her torso underneath the elbow -- all for a "slimming" effect.

Target removed the image from its website after several media outlets picked up the story. The company also apologized in a statement to Buzzfeed:

“This was an unfortunate error on our part and we apologize. We have removed the image from our website.”
