STUART , Fla., March 4 (UPI) -- A Florida man was busted for DUI after he told the officer who pulled him over that he was trying to "drive it off” following an argument with his wife during which she told him that he’d drank too much.

"He also told me that his wife told him that he (had) been drinking too much so he decided to go out and 'drive it off,'" according to Michael Moore’s arrest affidavit.

Moore -- not the filmmaker -- was pulled over around 12:35 a.m. Feb. 13 when a cop saw his SUV speeding on U.S. 1.

According to court records, Moore had glassy eyes and slurred speech when he was pulled over. The 61-year-old reportedly told the officer he’d had "a couple" of drinks and was heading to a bar for "a few" more.

After taking field sobriety exercises and being given a breathalyzer, Moore was arrested on a DUI charge.
